Chiaroscuro: A Mixtape
I hate to admit this because I don’t believe in dichotomies but I think that the dichotomy between light and darkness has always been inevitable. I learned it from the existence of chiaroscuro; which is a technique that visual artists from ancient Greek roots manifested to envisage the contrast between light and darkness in three-dimensional objects. The term itself translates to “light-dark”; chiaro meaning “bright” and scuro meaning “dark” or “obscure” in Italian. I perceive chiaroscuro as a synthesis between two ends; the light and dark one. This mixtape is the representation of both light and darkness that transcends the frame of time and space, but everyone is open to their own interpretation. I think that light and darkness would always coexist in some ways, just like the Norse gods Baldr and Höðr that, respectively, represent both elements.
Ralka Skjerseth is no one but a pure-hearted anarchist and a dethroned absurdist trying to prevail in this wretched world.
